OK fellow firefighters. It appears to me that there needs to be four specialized teams set up in Bradford County: Weapons of Mass Destruction Hazardous Material Advisory Hazardous Materials Decon Technical Rescue Advisory
WMD is already on the books and functioning. I'll have more information later on that. The rest don't exist.
Hazardous Materials Advisory would be made up of those people who have a HazMat or chemical background. Their function is to give advice to local reponders until the contracted Hazmat team can arrive. (NO, we are not forming our own hands on team)
Decon - We have a ton of new equipment for decon thanks to the "War on Terrorism" and Bradford County LEPC. What we don't have is the people trained to do it. This is pretty easy training, but we really need it to get it into place.
Technical Rescue Advisory is about USAR and confined space type emergencies. Again Bradford EMA has no plans to start a USAR Team since there is a regional one if anyone wants to do that. Howerver, having people on scene who can advise on what to do, and what not to do would be very helpful. Takes some serious training
I'm looking for peTEXTople interested in serving on and leading these teams.

Skip what is the status of this posting form some time ago? Has this idea gone anywhere? Planning any of the trainings? Let me know I would love to get involved with the project.

Thank you for the info. I think that with some big plants in the area and major roadways with several trucks, maybe there should be looked at a County HazMat team (unless there is already one that I do not know about, which is likely the case).
In anycase, I would be more than happy to become a member of any of this type of team.
