Just when you thought it was over. If you have not heard the Bradford County training center is moving forward. A committee has been formed and have been meeting for the past few weeks. The committee consists of members of Towanda PD, Local Government, Sheriffs dept. Fire and PSP (ret.).
Some events to put on you calender. Nick Hurley will be hosting a Motorcycle Ride on Aug, 27 Resister at 0900. Meet at the former Towanda Beverage Lot. All proceeds will be donated to the training center
There will be a 5K run on Oct. 16 all are encouraged to show your support. The run will take place in Towanda. More will be posted asap. Again, all proceeds will be used for the training center.
The 5k run is dedicated to fallen heroes of Bradford County. We need you help in identifying any Line of duty deaths in Bradford County. Lets all honor all who have given so much.
Stay tuned and spread the word. This is our best chance to make it happen

There will be a press release on Friday Aug 26 at 1500. All are welcome to attend. Dress uniform or work shirt is recommended. There will also be a photo shoot involved.
This will take place in front of the courthouse.

The training center has not been shelved. We have approx $4,500 for start up. This was raised during the 5k run. The 5k run is seperate from the actual training center but all proceeds will go to the center. Progress is slow at this point with hunting, holidays and the Briggs trial but rest assured we are still moving ahead.

Just a quick note on the center. The county officials are now involved and looking for land to put the center. Hopefully things will start to move.
Thanks Kim!

Just a quick update here. It looks like the proposed training center will be located near the county jail. The topic surfaced at a prison board meeting which Commissioner McLinko attended. They want a shooting range near the jail. Doug informed them that we were looking for a site for our facility. The discussion continued and proposed to locate the center near the jail. Fire, EMS and Law Enforcement can train under one site. Just a reminder, it is election year and we need all the help we can get

It would be really nice to have a training facility so close to home where anyone in the county can go to train rather than going all the way to Bucks. I haven't heard that anything was even in the works for such a thing. I think it's GREAT, and if there is ANYTHING that I or my business can do to help, by all means, let us know. We all know that we have some of the BEST emergency management people in the state here in Bradford county, and it would be nice to train shoulder-to-shoulder with the best of the best.

Nothing going on at this time. I believe we need help from the County to get this up and running, so far there has been little progress making this hapen.

Gary;
I understand to the fullest that any endeavor, particularly those that not only involve multiple agencies within one service, but multiple agencies within multiples services, does take time, albeit slow. Is the $4500.00 already allocated from the 5k run still available for a multi-use facility? Also, did the commissioners as a whole agree to supporting a multi-use facility or just Commissioner McLinko?

WOW here it is July 2007 and we have seen nothing done yet. What is the story ? Have asked questions on a regular basis and get NO answers. Where has the MONEY gone for this project ? Why won't someone get to the bottom of this ? No one seems to want to ask questions and no one wants to give any answers. Now know why several people wasn't keen about starting to support this project. As they have said this has been tryed before and for some unknow reason it never is followed through. And the MONEY seem to disapear. Oh well was just wondering what the story is on this. Just a concerned fireperson's wife. Kay

What would you like to see Kay up until recently there is absolutely no support for this project. Who have you asked about the training center. County government perhaps? ?? Jack and Nancy Felicita? Everyone thinks it is a great idea but when it comes down to it nobody is willing to make a commitment. There is approximately $5000.00 in an account designated for the center that was generated from the 5k run. As far as I know that is it. What more do you want to know. I'm not trying to be an ass but it is real frustrating when everyone agrees that it is a good cause and nothing gets done. With that said, A commitee has been formed again including officials from the Comm Center State Police Sherriffs office, and Fire personnel. I will try to post the minutes of each meeting on this site to keep all informed. I believe this will be our best chance to achieve our goals and also believe the right people are on the team to insure this does not get swept under the carpet.

Hi.Gary, As you can see I haven't been on here in awhile. Thank you for answering my input. I sure hope the funds come available for this,would sure be nice if this could become true. As you know in the past things did not go well at all when this same idea was brought up. I did not know if it was still in the process or not. Just my idea ,but think maybe a letter should be put out for departments to know any updates on this project. Maybe that would get more interested in it. I wonder what people want. Amy way thank you for your time. Kay
