BASIC RIGGING FOR ROPE RESCUE
Location: Troy Fire Department
Date: June 7 & June 8, 2008
Class Times: 08:00- 17:00 both days
Prerequsites: IST
Description: Participants in this course will be introduced to rope, rope hardware, patient packaging, and basic haul systems, which can be used in various aspects of rescue. The intent of this course is to provide rope and basic rigging experience for anyone interested in rope rescue, but particularly those who do not want to, or are unable, to rappel.
Required Gear: students will need the following equipment: helmet with chin strap (fire, construction or climbing are accepted), eye protection (HELMET FACE SHIELDS ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE), clean leather gloves, work or hiking boots that provide support(NO SNEAKERS), outdoor work clothing appropriate for weather conditions, and water bottle or other device suitable for storing liquids in the field. Students will also need a 15 foot section of rope and a 15 foot section of tubular webbing for knot practice. Students may bring additional personal or department owned equipment, but all such equipment will be inspected prior to use. FIRE FIGHTER TURN OUT GEAR IS NOT ACCEPTABLE FOR THIS CLASS.
This class has been approved for 2 M/T con-ed units. Class breakdown: 4/lecture, 12/lab. Class is open to all Fire and EMS personnel.
