A few of us on this board have been given the ultimate compliment by our respecting departments, the honorship of Life Membership. I say this is an honor, because that is exactly what it is, an honor. It is something that should not be expected, anticipated or demanded.
I am very, very fortunate to have been honored by three departments with this priviledge. Two are here in Bradford County; the Monroe Hose Company and the Towanda Fire Department. I am extremely proud to be associated with those currently and formerly members of these organizations. Both hold a very special place in my heart and both are community service organizations that I would gladly and proudly associate my name with.
My final priviledge was bestowed upon me by my brothers in La Casa Grande 32 (Progress Fire Company) in Dauphin County Pa. I always considered this an extreme honor based on the rich history the company not only exhibits but shows a deep and faithful belief in.
I received this honor before I received it from my Bradford County departments. It taught me how much of an honor, both in mind and spirit, that holding this recognizition was. When I was given this honor by both departments 7 & 15, I was both gracious and overwhelmed. Being a life member of a department, regardless of size or magnitude, is something we should all be proud of. I know
that I am and I am sure that those that have been given the same honor are as well.
Think about that next time the vote is out. To some this a highly p restegious honor. Yet to some its merely writing on a card. How sad.
All I can say to my brothers is a sincere and warm-hearted thank you for honoring me, I am very pleased to be a represenative of your organization.
