Been awhile since I posted anything on the Board. Don't you think the "Happy New Year" greetings that seemed to go on forever last night were a bit much.

Happy New Year... and.. ya think? Just like any other piece of dept. equipment, the radio should not be handled w/ alcohol on board.. Some of the traffic later on was quite entertaining, and may or may not have ended up on youtube.

and NO ONE should be playing with the radio's at any time if caught they should be held accountable for their actions. this was talked about at the last chiefs meeting and the unautherized usage of radio's by people who want to play games on them will not be tolerated.

In my opinion it was that same person that did it every single transmission. It may have become comical towards the end of his drunk dialing the comm center with a radio but it became an issue when Dept 2, 16, and 22 were dispatched to a structure fire with possible entrapment. That individual put a lot of lives at risk by screwing around on the radio. This person needs to come forward and make a formal apology to the comm center and for the 3 fire departments involved.

It's sad that this kind of thing happens. Maybe it's time for the Comm. Center to flex their muscles and start taking radio privileges away from some people. If my memory serves me correctly it is the county's radio system and they should be the final say of who can and can not talk on it.

I think this could have come to a quick stop if the comm. center wouldnt kept egging him on by responding to him

Seriously are you blaming the comm center for the little stunt on the radio, it's a simple fix (maybe) only supply your main officers with radios firefighter xx-xx doesn't need a radio, the same thing happens in sullivan

I think this could have come to a quick stop if the comm. center wouldnt kept egging him on by responding to him Please do not even suggest that my dispatchers did anything wrong here. They showed great restraint by not responding to some drunk with a radio and I commended them for it. We have a certain few fire department members in our county listening to the radio 24 hours a day and then reporting any little mistake to the County Commissioners trying to get people fired at the Comm Center. The last thing I need is for some drunk on the air provoking the dispatchers. It's about time that the Chief officers start controlling the radios in their departments. Who has them, why do they have them, and what are they doing with them?

I was just wondering why "cars", "units", and some responding officers aren't always acknowledged, but a drunk with a radio was....REPEATEDLY!

Harassing emergency dispatchers is totally unacceptable.. Probably illegal too, the FCC could prolly assist in some fines for the radio user and provider. _____ 18 should be voted off the island. I have to ask out of sheer curiosity, was this a real unit? Because the slurred speech, combined with responding to an emergency is something that can't be covered up too easily. Just think of the bad media such events could draw to that company. People thinking that drunk firemen are responding to calls?

Having listened to the fiasco on New Years Eve, both prior to and during Canton's job, I have to say that Robbie's personnel did the best they could with the conditions presented. I find no fault with the dispatchers, in fact I believe they may have in essence lessened what could have been a worse situation.
Yes, again our area has showed or placed a black mark on our area of the state. Chris, I think you know the answer to the youtube question you previously asked. Care to provide a link to the fire wire on Central Pa fire's board? If not, I will.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=5oOO6qPpl7AOh it wasn't a question, it was a statement. It was worse than a CB, sounded like, a bunch of redneck drunks. People have scanners.. The Daily has a scanner.. People hear this stuff.

Chris;
Thank-you for "manning up". I realize that scanner land is very full, however I cannot fathom that someone from our area would take what is an embarrassing episode, representing several respected departments and officers, and place it available to other areas of the state without placing it here first.
Never point a finger because there are always 10 pointing back!

No disrespect to anyone.. If I didn't record it, then it would have been broadcasting to the world. The first bit at midnite was funny. I popped my teamspeak client, and began recording through my digital camera. The power went out, I lost that. Damn wind. Power came back on, and when I came in around 0200, it was still recording. It was simply for the comical value, if it happened in Sullivan, I'd have done the same thing. And people would probably find someone to justify that kind of behavior on the air.
If you have Teamspeak Client Software. The online scanner thing, you can hook that wire up to a camera w/ digital video and it acts like a microphone, and records the scanner feed. You can get that software from free from IBN or downloads (dot) net.
