Not sure what thread to ask this, so I'll start here. As I listen to Bradford County here, they dispatch many calls by department number. How can someone find out what number goes to what department? Is there a list somewhere for us unimformed?

For the most part, they are numbered in alphabetical order. Obviously there are a few exceptions. Dept 1 - Athens Boro 2 - Canton 3 - Smithfield 4 - Herrick 6 - Leraysville 7 - Monroeton 8 - New Albany 9 - Ridgebury 11- Rome 12 - Sayre 13 - South Creek 14 - South Waverly 15 - Towanda 16 - Troy 17 - Ulster 18 - Warren 19 - Windham 20 - Wyalusing 21 - Wysox 22 - Franklindale 24 - Athens Twp 25 - North Towanda 26 - Litchfield 27 - Wilmot 28 - Windham Community

Forgive my historical ignorance - but I haven't been in Bradford County all that long. I'm just wondering as I look at the list of Depts., what happened to 5, 10, and 23? Were they closed, absorbed, merged with another, disappeared without a trace, or never existed? And if they existed at one time, who were they? Just random wonderings from my mind.

Department 5 is/was Laceyville. They are to the best of my knowledge still a member of the Bradford County fire association and still have a county designator, although it is seldom used. They are a Wyoming county based department that had at one time (and may still) jurisdictional response within Bradfords borders.
I believe that department 10 was never assigned due to the 10-code operations that were in effect when the county assigned department numbers back in the boons age. There was talk a couple of years ago about assigning this departmental number to the consolidated/regionalized makeup of Towanda, Wysox and N. Towanda, but this entity never came to fruitation.
I have no clue or even a remote guess why departmental 23 was skipped over.
I hope this helps!

Thanks! That helps. I just have an overactive curiousity about things that don't add up.

DEPT 23 WAS WELLSBURG,NY WHEN BRADFORD CO 911 DISPATCHED THEM FOR ALL INCIDENTS. ALSO DEPT 10 SKIPPED FOR 10 CODE REASONS AND DEPT 5 IS LACEYVILLE WHOM DOES HAVE COVERAGE IN BRADFORD CO BUT IS NOT DISPATCHED BY BRADFORD CO 911.

Does Little Meadows have a number? They are co dispatched by Bradford and Susquehanna. That is the one that affects me the most.

No number, but they are recognized in the Bradford County system.
