By now many of you may have heard that the LTS EMS Region will be home to Lifeflight 4. Earlier this week, the LTS EMS Council was contacted by Geisinger who proposed placing a fourth helicopter in Lycoming County that would be available to respond from the Lycoming County Airport in Montoursville. They have completed their amendment to their current Ambulance License and are awaiting inspection of this aircraft by our staff and anticipate that they will be operational in the next couple weeks. Initially, they will be staffed from 10:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. but hope that will expand to 24 hour coverage. Dispatch will not differ from current procedures, the only difference being that the helicopter will not have as far to travel when requested to this area.
Interesting??? Should be usefull in southern Bradford County or when Stat 15 is out on another call. No flight times published yet but they should be pretty quick.

According to a representative from Geisinger LifeFlight, the ship that they are placing in Lycoming County is none other than a Sikorsky S-76 with a purple tail.... That's right, its the former Guthrie One ship!

I was in the area this morning and I can definately confirm that Life Flight 4 is the old Guthrie One. It still still has the orange, yellow, purple color scheme, but not for long from what I hear.

Why is it that a boarded patient w/ traction splint can fit in all the Lifeflight choppers, yet the STAT crew takes the traction splint off b/c "it won't fit"? Their little roll in cot is longer than the board and splint, so what won't fit?
