MORRIS -- A Morris RR 1 man critically injured in a car crash late Saturday night assaulted an emergency medical technician who was trying to treat him, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
Troopers at the Mansfield station said Randolph W. Kellet Jr., 22, was ultimately flown by helicopter to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre following the 11:30 p.m. crash on Route 414. He underwent treatment in the center's intensive care unit Sunday. Workers could not confirm Monday that he was still a patient there.
State police said Kellet was driving a 1988 Honda Accord east on state Route 414 in Liberty Township, just east of the Morris Township line, and lost control of the car on a curve.
The Honda crossed the westbound lane, traveled off the north side of the road and hit an embankment, police said.
That caused the car to spin. The rear of the vehicle hit the embankment, and the car rolled over, police said. It came to rest on its wheels in the westbound lane of the road.
When the first emergency medical volunteers arrived at the accident scene, Kellet became vulgar and uncooperative, troopers said. At that point, Kellet kicked Morris emergency medical technician Cathy Kreger in the chest as she attempted to treat his injuries, police said. She was not seriously injured.
State police said charges of DUI, aggravated assault, disorderly conduct and several traffic counts are pending against Kellet.
