Ok people lets get it right out there, how many of you would spend 8-10 minutes on scene and not call for more resources that are needed when you know that whats coming is not enough or innapropriate? This kind of arose on a recent call I went too and I wondered if anyone has had any experiences that were grossly innadequate in the same way?? Besides isn't patient/scene assessment one of the first things we are supposed to do?

Without skating on the lines of HIPAA, you and I both know that there were no questions on that scene. Inadequate resources...need more. It took, what, ten seconds to realize that? But that particular call had a combination of both this problem, and the other. But to stay on topic, I think this is a general issue. Not just at MVA's or other hot calls, but on medicals too. It's amazing what more you can see by just standing back for 5 seconds and scoping out the situation. It seems as if the problem is when the first one or two people get on scene, they focus on one particular aspect of the scene (aka: tunnel vision, or the bleeding scalp effect), then when the next one or two arrive, they think the first two already did a scene assessment. Before ya know it, you have 20 people standing around, each assuming the other guy knows whats going on (aka: cluster____)
