Wow what a hot topic! This board allows for anonymity that is how it is set up. If enough people do not like this format it may be time to change, until then accept it the way it is.
The nature of the INTERNET is one of mystery where a 90 pound weakling can persuade the unwary that he is indeed Charles Atlas. If you buy into the story than shame on you. Listen to what people are saying they will usually give away pertinent facts about their true identity. I had a long talk to my son about the predatory nature of the INTERNET and he got it, why cant we. Personally I have nothing to hide behind except a brick wall when they start shootin down here but other than bullets a little name calling ain't gonna hurt me.
As an investigator I let people ramble on and on about their issues and how they saved the day, they usually wind up entrenching their foot deeply in their breathing orfice and eventually trip themselves up.
Let everyone post and listen carefully, you will hear.
I will never forget what one of my mentors told me early on : "Listen with your ears and not your mouth"

Out of boredom, I scrolled through some past threads and came across some good points made back in the infamous Firemedic days. They are each opposite sides of the spectrum. I don't mean to bring back dark times of the board, but I do think they fit the current situation very well. The first was by Valley8
And the next by 911Wacker
So the first point is where I stand... there is no reason to hide. The reason people want to know the identity of flamethrower is the same reason they wanted to know the identity of firemedic. Both did make personal attacks (IMO), and just like it was obvious that firemedic was one within us, it's obvious that flamethrower is too. So yes, it's aggrivating to know that someone we talk to and work with on a daily basis has so little confidence and respect for his fellow fire/ems service members. The second quote is where we probably should be. For one, we shouldn't be bothered by someone who wants to make an opinion. That's what America is about. Two, sometimes this board does get out of hand even towards the members who aren't anonymous, and it shouldn't. Despite that most of us have a pretty good idea who flamethrower is, I think we should concentrate on respecting what changes will come to the board when it (hopefully) comes back online. --off my soapbox--
