Reply to: 361963 Yes & yes! STAT is being down-sized to UPMC hospital-based helicopters only - under it's own Part 135 certificate. The days of JB's goal of taking over everything east of the Mississippi are OVER!! Will likely end up a 6 or 7 helicopter operator in western PA & for those folks that survive, probably a real good place to be!

Reply to: 362108 ...it has already started, ie NY, Sayre, PA. More will follow but it won't be overnight. This time next year STAT will be very changed. They'll be a bunch of STAT guys jumping on this post who will deny, call names etc. I say watch and see what happens over the coming year, then decide if this info was good. Have a great day!

Reply to: 362115 You're just speculating Gwendolyn. No word has come down from STAT management as yet about what their plan is for ME-17. It has not been staffed for the past couple weeks due to lack of an aircraft, but whether or not it is shut down temporarily or permanently remains to be seen.

I wish people wouldn't post something as fact when they know damn good and well that they are just guessing.

A communications specialist at Robert Packer hospital can be quated as saying "STAT is pulling out in June and Metroflight is taking over". True or not....inquiring minds want to know?

Arrogance is bliss and they have plenty to go around, gee wonder if they didn't have a contract with RPH they probobly would have pulled out leaving everyone high and dry agian?

Reply to: 384041 The GHS (Guthrie Healthcare Systems) CEO announced today on the internal website in his ask the CEO column that STAT is ENDING the contract with Guthrie on June 30, 2007. He further stated that they are working to place another provider in the area so that there is no lapse in service.

Reply to: 384155 The letter from the CEO has been confirmed by RPH employees, He states that it is too soon to speculate who the new air medical operator will be but STAT is working with RPH to assure "Minimal" disruption of service. It also states that new regulatory requirements have made it necessary for STAT Medevac to draw back to the western PA area and only service hospitals affiliated with UPMC. To all of you Nay sayers.... This is your big fat..

Some people think if they get one piece of info right out of 1,000,000, they are Nostradamus.

Once again, the STAT system is operated by more than just UPMC...there is no way that it will just service hospitals "affiliated with UPMC." The idea is ridiculous, especially when UPMC (and all the other hospitals which sit on the board), depend on referrals from dozens of hospitals that are not affiliated with ANYONE.

These changes have forced STAT to re-evaluate their strategic plan and business model, and concentrate on serving the hospitals that are located in the greater Pittsburgh area that are members of the Centers for Emergency Medicine. This likely means that at the conclusion of our current contract, RPH will be partnering with another medical aviation provider to service this region."

I have heard from people attending recent Stat classes in Delaware County NY that the crews that came for the classes stated that they were leaving sayre and relocating to Harris in Sullivan County NY. This seems to partially confim the information given above, but also has some conflicting points. I'm not sure what you guys are hearing down your way but just thought I would let you know what the word is up my way.
