Just for everyones information, the Greater Valley Dive team will have completed an extensive amount of training that has spanned the past two years as of this week. The team has undertaken courses of training tought by proffesional instructors from Dive Rescue International. Most recently this week 10 of Valley's dive team members have participated in DRI's Dive Rescue II program which consists of 40 hours of training. This training has consisted of light salvage and recovery as well as current diving. Over 15 of Greater Valley's team members have already been certified at the Dive Rescue I level (public saftey diver) which consisted of 24 hours of training geared towards victim rescue and recovery operations.
The team has also purchased several new peices of equipment and supplies, mandated minimum levels of training, updated its SOP's and held several training dives to better serve our area. Any departments that wish to learn more or have any questions may contact Greater Valley EMS and speak to Todd Pruitt or Brad Wilson at (570) 888-6000. The team is interested in increasing its public awareness and building working relationships with local fire departments and other dive teams in the area.

I am sitting here with Brad before we gear up and head out for our last day of class... His answer is that we will go wherever we are called. We have a policy in place that if a mission is a life-saving response, the first four divers to the station (which can happen upon dispatch during the weekdays) will respond in MICU 37, our 4x4 ambulance. We are also currently working with Stat MedEvac to fly two divers and gear to a scene if a mission is potentially life-saving. This would most likely be our means of travel to Sullivan County. The rest of the team would then follow behind with Rescue 7 and the dive trailer. For any further information, feel free to contact us (or Brad Wilson) at the station at 570-888-6000.

Here is pic from class: If you look between the airbags a red car is suspended in about 20 feet of water just below the surface.
