On 12/31/03 around mid-day Canton Fire Department along with Western Alliance Emergency services were disptched to Montague St. for a 2 vehicle accident with occupants still in the vehicle. First units on scene including Western 12 (John Mosser) and Deputy Chief May found a mini-van Vs. small 4 door passenger car with a apprx. 400 lb man still in the small car complaining of minor injuries, due to the damage of his vehicle and the size of the patient it was decided to "open" the car up for ease of patient movement and plainly because the patient was too big. 2 Rescue 8 led by Captian J. Bowman made quick work of the vehicle utilizing the jaws and the patient was extricated to MICU 5 without further incident. The occupants of the mini-van refused treatment on scene and all units were quickly returned to service. Canton Borough Police are handling the investigation.
