Its fun to play in the water! Especially when its just a little above zero, the wind is blowing, you are on top of a mountainand the sructure is half a mile out through a field.
The scene is a long way from any of the first alarm stations (1,24,26) and smoke was visible miles away so Township 1 asked for additional tankers form Dept 17 and Wavelrly/Barton NY
The first firefighters on scene found an older model trailer about half involved in fire, and partially collapsed. Litchfield 1 was the original IC and then became Operations upon the arrival of township 1. Athens 3 was at the rear.
Because of the advanced state of the fire an exterior attack was executed. the first line attacked from the unburned side, and the second attacked the collapsed area in front. This strategy stopped the fire spread and allowed crews to gain control. Unfortuantley almost everything of value was destroyed or damaged.
When sufficient numbers of firefighters arrived there was a group staged to perform whatever tasks were needed, especially in RIT was needed. Fortunatly they were'nt needed and were rotated though other tasks.
Red Cross and auxillaries provided refreshments, and a bus was called in for a rehab station. GVEMS provided rehab checks on the firefighters
