On July 2nd, 2004, a group of firemen was in the town square when a male subject ran to them and advised that there was a CHILD STUCK IN A WASHER at the Canton Laundromat. Without any regard to what we were doing we stopped and went immediately to the scene. Upon arrival with any regard for their own personal harm Deputy Chief J. Scott May, Firefighter Ron Seeley, rescued the child from the washer that LOCKS as soon as it starts, after firefighter Troy Strause had smashed parts of the window out with a board that he thankfully had in his truck with him. Deputy Chief May and Firefighter Seeley received lacerations to their arms while rescuing the child. The firefighters continued to care for the child until they were ordered to leave the area and the child was being cared for by a hirer level of care. This by now way takes away from all the other members that continued all the other tasks which included Landing the Helicopter, Assisted with caring for the injured fireman, trying to calm the relatives on the scene, crowd control and then go right back to finishing the job we had already started.
