Dept 3, Dept 9, Dept 24, Smithfield EMS just dispatched to Smithfield Twp, about a 1/2 mile west of the fire station, for structure fire with flames showing. 3-Eng-1, 3-R-1 responded shortly after dispatch and reported fire on the second floor of the residence, flames through the roof. Command established by Smithfield 1, and stated there is a pond nearby that E-2 can supply from.
Dept 24 moving 1 engine and 1 tanker to Dept 3 for cover up assignment, Dept 9 requesting an engine from Wellsburg to their station for cover up.

We (Smithfield) have had back to back structure fires today. One on Hoblet (trailer type structure) and one on Town Hill (house). You know what they say- things come in threes!

So what is the problem Thad? Do you put water on the fire 1st or do you do search and rescue 1st? We were all at the station eating breakfast and getting back inservice from the 1st struture fire when the 2nd call came in, so with lots of man power at station and only so many seats on the other trucks we loaded the rescue and away we go. Just like a paid dept. was able to do a lot in avery short period of time. We had an excellent save! Every call is different! Manpower varys on certain times of the day.
