As one of those "wackers" and one the authorizes lights for my department it all boils down to common sense. I don't care how many lights or what color they are. If we dont use common sense people can and will die or get hurt. Below is a link that is a prime example of it. Without knowing the situation I am not saying this driver was at fault but, no matter what it creates a bad name. I try to mention it almost every meeting that we have to slow down and be safe and have instructed our police department to issue citations if they break the law. cms.firehouse.com/content/article/article.jsp?sectionId=17&id=25405

It's Funny the only one's worred about the blue an red light law's is the blue an red lighters, if law enforcement not worred about it then why are we.If you can't responed to a call an use your head at the same time then you souldn't be doing this job.

Oh no! not the common sense monster again. Two pages of dialog and this is what is boils down to COMMON SENSE! We all or most of us have it. It is just a matter of using it. "Can't we all just get along." ;D

Nobody likes a wacker, and wackers are why the public that you are serving and protecting think that we are a bunch of BOOBS!! Please, if you fit into this catagory, stop giving the fire service a BLACK EYE!!!!!!
Lycocapt,
I agree to a point. But if I am in a situation where I need, I want to see light's and hear the siren to let me know help is on the way. RavenCFD said it right. Good commen sense, very well put!

There are alot of good points made here. I feel that if we use common sense when responding to calls we dont pose a threat to the gp it doesnt matter how many strobe or rotators you have. It also doesnt matter how much bigger or better someones lightbar is than yours we are all here to do a job and that is to help the public.

I dont think anyone really cares how many lights you have on your vehicle as long as you follow the traffic laws stated with the use of warning lights. Remember we are all representing our departments. Just simply obey the traffic laws and run your lights. dont give your department a bad name and everyone is Happy

If we want to be percieved as proffesional, we must act it!!
