Speaking of Chatter........
Why do we say "Show me on scene"
I don't understand why when it should be easier to say "Bradford County -- is on scene" instead of "-- to Bradford County show -- on scene"
Where do you want the 911 center to show it
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Are the responding of "CARS" ever gonna go away??

Kim I know in a few departments around here they have started making the cars and fire police go to channel 2 to respond. Monroetons doing it, and I think you'll see us (Franklindale) do it real soon, which in my opinion is a good thing. After all the only real time that county needs to hear from a car is if they are first on scene in my eyes.

The responding of the "CARS" goes away when the chief of the dept puts his foot down and takes them away or sets some kinda sop so that if they need to talk on the radio (ie. emergency tracffic) they can. An other solution to that is give them a inter departmental channel to talk to each other on. Their is no real reasion that a "CAR" or "UNIT" (or whatever the wacker happens to call him\herself at the time) or even fire police need to call county for any reasion. If you are a "car" or "unit" go to the station cause you aren't gona do anybody any good on the scene in your personal vehicle. When the pager goes off it means their is an EMERGENCY and their needs to be emergency apparatus and personell to go with it at the scene. How many companys respond emergency equipment to a call by them self and find a dozen blue light wackers on the scene? I guess Chief all I can think of for the diffrent radio lingo is every "car" or "unit" that has a radio thinks that they can talk how ever they see fit. If their is a class put on by the comm. center and they say this is how to talk on the radio then don't you think you should do it. Just some food for thought. ;D Stay safe.

my feelings on "car units" is this i feel no-one except line officers or fire police should have a radio.the only car units should be if some body has a line officers vehicle going somewhere or returning to a scene and use that radio to contact command ( on a different freq.)isnt that what a car unit was suppose to be in the first place this is only my opion and not that of the monroe hose company.....

The thing is trying to get the Chiefs/Officers to stop it. I understand why they are out there for some departments and I can find good use for them. Yes they are set up to be line officers vehcile so any cars should start after your line officer list. I think it would be ok to have 50 cars in a department and they were only used in emergency or first on scene stuff. Just stay off the air for responding and chat chat chat. There is times that I have people out a long way and it would be nice to know what they have, but I know what happens. Just the other night my wife (2car1) got on scene of a reported car fire with a barn exposure and it was a relief to find out the barn was not endangered.---GOOD USE OF THE RADIO..........
As a dispatcher, Jeff and I have discussed this many many times. I have a real issue not answer ANYONE that calls as you never know what they have to say. If they call I want to answer unfortonately, and I will get in BIG BIG trouble for answering them.

ok please fire police do not need to be on fire frequencies unless theer is some kind of traffic emergency they need to let comm center know about. Bottom line the Chiefs to step up and do some training whith thier people on proper radio procedures. Use your heads and be responsable. County does not need to know that ever "CAR" is responding. Officers and apparatus. And scene report if you are a car first on scene. I think the problem here as with most issues is that the people reading this arent the people we should be talking to. Good luck.
