Hi all:
I am looking for some input on how your emergency dispatching done? I am from Carbon County and the way it is currently done is a bit odd to some?
We hit the alert tones, followed by short warble tone, then announce address of incident and nature of call followed by the departments being requested.
This is done two times and then the time is given at the end of the second page. There has been some controversy surrounding this new way and some people prefer the old way. This was done to accommodate those with stored voice pagers.
Prior to this it was done in the reverse order alert tones, short warble, departments being requested, and then nature of call.
Again just looking for some input on how it is done in your county? Also when we have a fire call we second alert in 3 minuets and go mutual aid after six minuets. EMS gets 5 minuets until second alert and 10 minuets until mutual aid is sent.

Here at Bradford County, we set alert tones, followed by a warble tone, then twp, address, situation and emd response code if applicable. On the second set of tones, siren is added if needed, and time is given at the end of the second page. example for a structure fire - after tones and siren tones voice would be :" Deptx, Depty, Deptz, box alarm #, your township, any road, the residence name, for a structure fire, time" EMS is pretty much the same, we do give an EMD priority with the page as a response determinant- Alpha,Bravo,Charlie,Delta, Echo. I know that these were changed a few years ago, to cut down on radio air time and to get a response to the patient / residence, etc more quickly. After the first units respond, we then give more information - Directions, or any other pertinent information that we may have. For either EMS or Fire, there is initial page, second tones if needed at 3 mins later, and final page of needed, with automatic mutual aid at 3 minutes after second page (6 mins. total). Hope this helps!
