Rob, I agree that it is kinda like apples and oranges but Maybe we ALL would be a better group is we shared info and ideas amongst us. I know Cops dont normally told to fireman and we dont talk to them but MAYBE WE SHOULD be. Now, is it not the same thing when a officer of police is first on the scene and a officer of fire getting on the scene. I dont see a different, Agreed that police are USUALLY last on scene but not always. That is why I mentioned PD. It is the same with all the EMS providers. If we are trying to set up policy or procedures maybe we need to discuss it with EMS also. I know we want to PROTECT OURSELVES first but I dotn want to see ANYONE die or get hurt. Even POLICE I do respect all aspects of EMERGENCY SERVICES even though I try to make us number 1. Maybe that is the trouble we all worry about US and not THEM

I DO HAVE TO AGREE WITH KIM ON THAT YOU NEVER KNOW WHO MAY SHOW UP FIRST, BE FIRE, EMS, OR PD WE ALL NEED TO DO SOMETHING AND AGREE ON IT SO NO ONE GETS HURT OR KILLED ;D

What does it matter who arrives on scene first? Who ever it is should be able to determine if there is a further problem if they are properly trained. And if the police arrive first on scene you won't have to worry about having to find out where the incident is located because they will be parked as close as they can to the incident whether it be a crash or a working fire. No offense to you Bob, too many bad instances with local PD.

BUT YOU WILL NEVER GET ALL AGENCIES TO AGREE ON ONE WAY TO DO THINGS. THE PROBLEM IS ALL AGENCIES ARE BOUND BY THEIR REGULATIONS AND GUIDELINES. ALL YOU CAN DO IS SET GUIDELINES FOR THE ASSOCIATIONS YOU HAVE DIRECT CONTROL OVER(BRADFORD COUNTY FIREMAN). SOME AGENCIES MAY NOT BE ABLE TO AGREE TO DO SOMETHING THE WAY THE FIREMAN WANT TO DO IT BECAUSE IT MAY NOT PARALLEL THEIR DEPARTMENT GUIDELINES.

Good points from everyone.. Thats why we appoint officers which usually get on scene first and can advise us of what is needed. We all in a whole have to expect the unexpected.Plan for the worst and hope for the best
